Cross stitch kits

I AM SUPER EXCITED !!!!!

No its not because I'm sitting on my couch with a coffee after having to close the store early again ( unfortunately we are still sick and could only manage 3 hours watching dvd's in the back while mum worked ) thankfully that should all be sorted tomorrow as I have some cover for sick people :)

No I am excited because at last the first designs of our cross stitch range are finished and packaged and I'm so proud of them.
When I first started to plan our own small cross stitch range I have to admit that I did not realize how much work would go into it, even after getting lots of advice of our favorite Stitchsmith Liz.
It has taken some very long nights learning how to use new software and coming up with ideas and designs. In the end I decided to stick to simple so created a range of silhouette's, some cute nursery animals and then a British range.
So here you are these are our first 7 designs - over the next coming weeks we will be adding more as we finish stitching the samples which is the longest task even with crafty helpers ( thank you Linda ).

I would love to hear what you think - want to buy one they are in store and on the website NOW !!!!!

goodies and projects

Morning everyone how was your weekend ?

I managed to get to one of Auckland's craft markets and decided to treat the boys to new hot water bottles made by the wonderful Alex from Alex and co and then couldn't resist this little purse as its the perfect size for my knit pro set :)

Talking of Knit pro I have just placed a new order from America which we should get in about 3 weeks included a few of the full spectra, wood and nova kits.

I also got this cute little ninja for  sick boy ( by chibi ) - its a week now and he still is not better but due to all other staff being sick too you may well see him in store today helping out - it may also mean that we close a bit early depending on how he feels.

What else have I been up to, well Stitch and Bitch on Friday night was so full that we had to turn people away which is a first for us hopefully we can squeeze a few more chairs in next month.

I got started on my baby jumpers using the "puerperium cardigan" free pattern by kelly brooker that I shared last week. Its quick and easy which is satisfying  I think I'm going to make a grey one too :)

And I'm excited to share that this is the last cross stitch to finish. I will show you all the finished ones tomorrow when they all get put out in store for the first time !!!!!

A day of rest

I unexpectedly got a day of rest today when one of my little men fell foul of the virus doing the rounds at school and was unable to find someone to cover me in the store. My apologies to you if you turned up to find us closed.
So while he watched fireman Sam I stitched away, then knitted and then stitched some more. I found time to have a good old browse on Ravelry - It always amazes me how many new patterns have been added since I last looked and so my favorites list grows bigger - when will I get time to knit them all I wander....

This one is for those of us who can't crochet but love that granny square look :)

Weekly wrap up

Well its been a busy week with the winter weather sending everyone in for a new winter knitting project.

So officially it must be knitting season :) with that in mind I have decided to start up a new knitting group at the store dedicated just to sock knitting it will run every Friday morning 10 - 12.
I 'm hoping that we can all learn together and encourage each other in this little sock journey - I have found a lovely simple ribbed sock that should make a good first project and I'm looking forward to casting on with you all.

The next new thing is that after several requests we have decided to make Friday afternoon into a social stitch group - so from 1- 2.30 you can come and join us round the big table for any kind of hand crafting, this will replace Tuesday afternoon stitching which didn't really take off.
Hopefully Friday is a better day for all you stitches  ;)
You could try your hand at one of the Stitchsmiths latest designs.

We have had another new yarn arrive Harmony is a beautiful merino which as a slightly felted feel to it its an 8 ply so the perfect thing for stylish accessories this year think hats scarfs and fingerless mittens in soft neutrals.

Thats it I hope you all have a lovely crafty weekend I'm off to try my hand a sewing a dress :)
